July 24, 2008, southeast Cedar Rapids. AmeriCorps VISTA members tear out the flood-affected southeast Cedar Rapids home of Fred Reid and his wife Becky Meyers-Reid. Fred had lived in the home for 38 years. He and his wife were evacuated on June 12.
The AmeriCorps VISTA crew included Rhett Harris, Ben Vermie, Evan Spells, Kaleigh Hire, Jimmy Kelly, Rob Bennett, Diego Sepulveda, Joe Lasko, Tye Schulke, Natalie Masci and Ryan Neff.
