Welcome NCCC Team Cedar 5
Cedar 5 is super excited to spend their round 2 project working with Weed and Seed in Cedar Rapids! They are fully prepared, having spent round 1 working in Mobile, Ala. with Habitat for Humanity. They were assigned the Neighborhood Stabilization Project, a new program that the Mobile County Habitat started to be more economically friendly in this time when people are suffering from the economy. They buy foreclosed homes, refurbish them and then sell them for cheap.
Being assigned this project meant Cedar 5 spent a lot of time doing demolition. They tore up decks and flooring, ripped up carpets, and took out bathtubs at a number of houses. They also had the opportunity to do a bit of new construction, throwing trusses, framing, working with OSB and some finishing work.
Led by their fearless team leader, Rachael, Cedar 5 comes from as north as Maine and as south as Texas. They are from everywhere between Seattle and New Jersey. They work hard and they have fun doing it. Cedar 5 is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Weed and Seed and so far has been having a great time!
