VISTA Corridor Recovery is part of the Iowa Sixth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. In 1991 the department created a nonprofit organization, the Community Corrections Improvement Association.
CCIA programs include the Youth Leadership Program, the Partnership for Safe Families (a program to prevent child abuse and domestic violence) and Home to Stay (which provides housing for ex-offenders).
In 2005 the CCIA began Central Cedar Rapids Weed and Seed. Weed and Seed is a group of strategies to weed out criminals and plant the seeds of stronger communities.
And in 2008, as the flood waters receded, Central Cedar Rapids Weed and Seed created VISTA Corridor Recovery.
Have you got all that? Good.
