Aging Services

Aging Services, Inc. is a private, not-for-profit agency founded in 1969 and provides services to older adults and their caregivers in Linn, Benton and Jones Counties in Iowa.

Services help seniors and health challenged adults to remain in their homes in the community and avoid premature or unnecessary placement in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

Block by Block

Block by Block was created in response to the devastation caused by the flood of 2008. Seeing hundreds of vacant homes and nothing being done with them, a year after the flood Block by Block took on the task of rebuilding.

Literally going “block by block”, Block by Block assesses the needs of an area and works to help with resources and manpower to rebuild homes that have been uninhabited, and sometimes hazardous, since the flood of 2008.

Food Chain

Food Chain is a food rescue organization located in Cedar Rapids that serves Linn County. Food Rescue is the act of picking up extra food from places that serve food such as restaurants, supermarkets, catered events and distributing it to places that serve food to people who need it such as homeless shelters, food pantries, and free meal sites in the community. Food Chain intends to help the community with two goals; to reduce waste in Linn County, and to reduce the amount of people going hungry in Linn County.

Food Connections

Food Connections is a food rescue program that aims to help feed those who are hungry as well as curb rampant food waste in the City of Cedar Rapids.

The program strives to keep wholesome, nutritious food from going to waste by collecting excess from food donors and distributing to those in need through agencies that serve the hungry, homeless, and at-risk populations.

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program

Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc. (HACAP) is one of eighteen Iowa community action agencies (CAAs), providing flexible and adaptive programs and services that work toward removing those barriers to self-sufficiency while maintaining a person’s dignity. HACAP provides service in six counties (Benton, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn and Washington).
